An inner-city suburban neighbourhood has been cordoned off following the grim discovery of a man clinging to life before he later died in hospital.
Emergency services were called to Edwardstown, in inner-city , shortly before 9.30pm Sunday night after a man was found lying in the middle of the street reportedly suffering from a gunshot wound in his chest.
The man, 41, was rushed to the Flinders Medical Centre in a critical condition where he couldn’t be revived.

Police are treating the man’s death as suspicious.
Detectives and forensic officers spent the night scouring the crime scene for evidence, where a major police operation remains in place.
Police remain in the cordoned off street early Monday morning doorknocking neighbours and conducting inquiries.
Residents who were blocked by police from returning to their homes on Sunday night were finally allowed to re-enter on Monday morning.
Dunorlan Road, which is a inner-city major thoroughfare remains blocked off between Calstock and Waverley avenues.
